Christmassy Essential Oil Blends

Can you believe it? Christmas is just right around the corner, again! Where did all the time go? Here are a few blends to try out to get you ready for the festivities ahead. For diffusers with the standard capacity, 100ml, use 4-5 drops of essential oils. For 200ml water capacity, you may use 6-9 drops.

Black Spruce + Rosalina + Peppermint

A whiff of the balsamic and coniferous scent of black spruce immediately makes you think of Christmas. It is also useful if you’re prone to coughs, colds and congestion. Rosalina’s bright and lemony scent doubles as respiratory and emotional support whereas peppermint’s sharp and invigorating scent wakes up the mind for a boost in energy and mental clarity.

100ml water
2 drops black spruce/peppermint
2 drops rosalina
200ml water
3 drops black spruce
3 drops rosalina
3 drops peppermint

*Alternately, you may use spearmint or eucalyptus in place of peppermint, and pine in place of black spruce

Vetiver + Patchouli + Geranium

Vetiver brings that smokiness and intense yet comforting warmth, as if you’re sitting by the fireplace during the holidays. Patchouli relieves fatigue and stress with its deep woody scent. Although geranium is typically known to be a woman’s oil as it helps with PMS, the benefits don’t stop there. The deep floral and citrusy scent of geranium is emotionally grounding, promoting relaxation and managing nervous tension.

100ml water
2 drops vetiver/patchouli
2 drops geranium
200ml water

*You may use rose (sparingly due to the strength of the aroma) or lemon in place of geranium

Carrot Seed + Cinnamon Bark + Vanilla

This blend is for the carrot cake lovers. Carrot seed stimulates the cognitive function for higher levels of mental energy and alertness. However, its warm and earthy scent is found to be harsh by some. Combing carrot seed with the sweet and spicy cinnamon along with the rich and heady vanilla creates a harmonious and comforting blend, diminishing unfavorable feelings to uplift your holiday spirits.

100ml water
2 drops carrot seed/cinnamon bark
2 drops vanilla
200ml water

2 drops lemon

*You may also use petitgrain in place of carrot seed, and sweet orange in place of lemon

Douglas Fir + Cedarwood + Grapefruit

If you like both pine-like and floral scents, you’ll get the best of both worlds with Douglas fir. Its woody scent with floral and citrusy notes purifies the air while creating an emotionally uplifting environment. Cedarwood’s warm and woody scent promotes easier breathing and alleviates stress. The vibrant citrusy scent of grapefruit has a positive impact on headaches, mental burnout and negative moods.

100ml water
2 drops douglas fir/cedarwood
2 drops grapefruit
200ml water
3 drops douglas fir
3 drops cedarwood
3 drops grapefruit

* You may use other types of fir or pine in place of douglas fir. You can also use bergamot, lemon or lime in place of grapefruit

Ginger + Clove + Sweet Orange
